Project update - Sci fi

The project moves forward, now I got some pictures of props and interiors (that aren't hallways).

So far so good, I've learned a lot about Udk since last time, how to get proper shadows and how to work better in a modular way (and how to construct more efficient modules). So far thank you CG textures for the abundant mass of textures to sample and rebuild into the materials. All content is made by me, nothing taken from UDK's packages (at least not any longer ;D).

EDIT: Ill go ahead and post a link of me running in it on my livestream (NOISEWARNING)

Not all tries end in success

Well I did want to participate in this years pre-dominance war contest but I managed to screw up my own concept planning. I did have one I intended to work with but thanks to the advice of my buddies I ended up remaking it to break my comfort zone (and I'm not meaning that in sarcastic or bad way). Lesson learned that I should take more time to concept ahead, anyway I think I'll go ahead and post what concepts that managed to see the light of day before being put 6 feet under.
These above were the first ones, stayed too far with concepts I overuse

And this was the one I ended with, the futuristic arachnoid soldier/general thingy. It never got quite finished either.

Anonymous Mage

Personal school project, nothing course bound. Should first note that this is a sculpt I've been working on and the basemesh isnt my own, so to give credit it was done by Samuel "arshlevon" Sharit and was available at http://wiki.polycount.com/BaseMesh

What I do take credit for however is the modification, sculpting, baking and yadda yadda, everything after the basemesh stage.

The main problem I ran into with this model was that I wanted his robe to be semi-free from the rest of his body, thus giving quite a couple of problems when baking. So after the sculpting the majority of my time was put to repairing the normal maps and AO maps, in the end I think the result was pretty good.

Main Project - Sci-fi environment

And here comes a small presentation of my current main project in school, my goal is to create a sci-fi environment in UDK and so far I'm only working with my own meshes, textures and props. Here is a screencap from the latest work on the tube corridors.

And below are some of the props pulled aside

And here comes some older stuff

Should post this too since this blog is the closest thing I have to a portfolio at the moment.

This is a H&K UMP I've modelled, textured and rendered for a school assignment last spring. Rendered in Marmoset toolbag.

And this is from this summer, a model done during the new sculpt summer course. Also rendered in Marmoset toolbag.

And here we have one of the characters in our second game project, an alien golfer for the game Space golf.

An alien bust i've been sculpting, mostly practice

Sculpt Sculpt Sculpt

Weeell, Ive been fooling around in Zbrush for a couple of days, I think Maya is getting jealous since it crashes even more. But here comes two pictures :D

This would be an Daemonic Imp skull, First time I've ever managed to make a proper "render" in Zbrush without doing a print screen ^^;

And here we have a soldier that's for a mini project in school, he'll be using the cannon I've posted earlier.

Schoolproject 1: Cannonade

So, one of the projects im participating in at school is to make a 3D short of a gun crew in the Swedish fortress Karlsborg. The time period it was active was after the disintegration of the Swedish empire (Yes we had an empire back then). Sadly for the fortress it was outdated before it was even finished, still it remains as a museum.

So, the cannon I'm making will be of the design they had at Karlsborg, its main use was to shoot grapeshots at advancing russians (the grapeshot being a hail of small bullets, turns the cannon into a massive shotgun).

This is how far i've come, still need to optimize it somewhat but the design is complete.

Second post

Oh, seems like I just figured out how to submit photos, major breakthrough!

(Edit: As for the picture, Started out as some sketching, then evolved into an entire dragon/colour/scales study.)

First blog thingy

Soo... first blogpost. If you've stumbled here you prolly know me, otherwise congratulations, youve found an unknown blog on the internet.

Back to seriousness though, on this blog I will post my progress as a game artist and perhaps some other nonsense I find important. I feel that I should have started blogging earlier but its never too late to start I think, going the third year of studies in (artistic) game developement at the university of Skövde, Sweden.

The blog will as you can see be in English... cause its the language of the internets, and why am I writing this? I think there was just some bizarre need to do so. ;D
